Since its inception in 1983, the Center for Youth and Communities (CYC) has established a national reputation as one of the nation's leading research centers, and professional development and policy organizations in youth and community development. CYC is part of the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
The Center's ultimate goal is to "make knowledge productive." We do this by connecting the knowledge gained from scholarly research and practical experience in ways that help both policy makers and practitioners.
This blend of theory and practice provides CYC with a unique perspective and capacity. In our work we view practitioners and policy makers as partners in a practical knowledge development effort in which both the community and the academy bring critical strengths, and in which practical solutions to real-world issues are developed through a collaborative, mutually respectful approach.
